Test Driving BIM - 8:30-Noon
In this unique and interactive session we’ll evaluate the advantages of implementing BIM into your business and test drive the best productivity features that users can leverage immediately.
Through brief demonstrations and hands-on test drives you’ll experience REVIT, Navisworks, and QTO first hand. Throughout the session we’ll have open discussion about selecting, implementing, and using the right software for your business.
· We’ll discuss the Business of BIM; ROI, profitability, winning projects, and gaining competitive advantage.
· We’ll explore the concept of “Reinventing the Deliverable.” How do we get the information you need from the model to the field?
· We’ll review the challenges that contractors have faced when adopting BIM and how they've successfully addressed those challenges.
Whether you are new to BIM or have been using it for awhile, you'll find this session very informative as you'll learn multiple tips and tricks for improving productivity from estimating to construction, plus gain valuable insights into the Business of BIM.
Workshop 1 – BIM/VDC Estimating and Modeling (Revit and QTO)
Models that you receive from the design team are often not developed, detailed or organized in a way that best suits a constructor. In this session we’ll take an introductory look at how to edit and update the models to best suit your needs. You’ll leave this session with an understanding of how to get the information you need from the model to the field.
In this workshop you’ll learn how to perform quick preliminary takeoffs in Revit and then move into Autodesk QTO where you’ll use the model along with 2D documents to develop a more detailed takeoff. We will teach techniques that can deliver new efficiency and accuracy to your estimating process.
Workshop 2 – BIM/VDC Coordination (Clash Detection with Revit & Navisworks)
Wouldn’t it be great to avoid last minute changes that occur in the field? In this workshop you’ll learn how to perform “interference checks” (clash detection) with two different software packages: Revit and NavisWorks. We’ll discuss the pros and cons of each application so you’ll have a good understanding of how each tool could help you.
Workshop 3 – BIM/VDC Construction Sequencing (Revit and Navisworks)
In this workshop you’ll learn how to take a BIM model into Navisworks and how to link building model elements to your construction schedule in order to assist with 4D planning in a visual way.
Meet the presenter:
